The Coming $100 BILLION Lithium Market: Is It Real?

Right now, there are too many electric vehicles and not enough lithium to produce the batteries.

Giant automakers could be in trouble.

Why we must have domestic supplies…and how we can get them.

James Hyerczyk is a Florida-based technical analyst, market researcher, educator and trader. James began his career in Chicago in 1982 as a futures market analyst for floor traders at the Chicago Board of Trade, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, and numerous brokerage firms. He has been providing quality analysis for professional traders for 40 years.

  • Sales of electric vehicles (EVs) are going crazy and have TRIPLED since Biden took office. All EVs need lithium batteries—and there’s a severe shortage.
  • Global automakers plan to invest $1.2 TRILLION in EVs and battery technology.
  • Price of lithium has skyrocketed along with demand due to the shortage—and it’s only going to get worse. Right now, China has the world in a chokehold because they control 75% of the world’s supply of lithium.
  • Lithium has become a national security issue. The U.S. military desperately needs lithium for its equipment, as does mainstream America…think what happens if we can’t get it.
  • One junior exploration company with claims in North America’s most lucrative mining areas could be about to achieve success with their lithium claims. Now is the time to look at Pan American Energy Corp (PAANF) as the company could be set to become a key player in the race to meet the surging demand for lithium. *
By James Hyerczyk

Echoing non-stop through the halls of Washington are three words: clean, green energy. This has been the buzz for some time now as an answer to moving away from fossil fuels and toward clean and green energy.

The government continues to move full steam ahead changing the energy landscape and incentivizing this entire market.

Perhaps one of the most aggressive moves by the current administration was the Presidential edict for electric vehicles to make up 50% of new car sales by 2030.[1]

When the president issued Executive Order 14037,[2] automakers set their own goals: 40 percent to 50 percent zero-emissions vehicles by 2030[3]–including battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles.[4]

Auto giants like GM have already committed to selling only electric vehicles (EVs) by 2035.[5]  Mercedes has committed to selling only electric vehicles by 2030.[6]

While EVs may have gotten off to a sluggish start several years ago…

Global sales of electric vehicles more than TRIPLED in 24 months from 2019 to 2021, from 2.2 million to 6.6 million sold[7] and the market for EVs is still on fire.

Here’s the riff…

You can have all the electric cars you want, but you must have batteries to run them. Here’s the sexy part for investors.

These batteries require lithium, a precious metal often called “white gold” due to its monetary value.  Prices have surged roughly 500% year over year.[8]

Trouble is, lithium is in short supply—and will continue to be. But this creates a potentially magnificent opportunity for smart investors who capitalize on the lithium shortage and the explosive demand for EVs.

Global automakers plan to pour $1.2 TRILLION into EVs and battery technology by 2030.

That could be one reason lithium prices remain near record high prices.[9] Giants like GM, Ford, Tesla, and Rivian are desperate for lithium batteries.[10]

Electric and hybrid vehicles aren’t the only major applications for lithium batteries, putting even greater pressure on a lithium supply that can’t keep up. Moreover, China controls around 75% of the market for lithium batteries and lithium processing.[11]

This “Chinese chokehold” could become the new oil crisis.

The United States and countries worldwide could become dependent on China for lithium batteries instead of being lithium-independent.

Like oil and gas wars with OPEC and Russia, the U.S. and other countries could end up being held hostage by China. Already high lithium prices could skyrocket out of control. Even Tesla’s Elon Musk has called lithium prices “crazy.”

That is why it’s more critical than ever that the U.S. gets its domestic lithium supply pumping like crazy.

Let’s look at the lithium shortage right now. And I’ll share with you what I believe is a rare investment opportunity in the lithium mining exploration company, Pan American Energy (PAANF). *Before I do, I’d like to introduce myself.

Hi, I’m James Hyerczyk, a noted technical analyst, market researcher, educator, and trader. I’ve been providing quality analysis for professional traders for 40 years.

I’ve been watching the EV market explode and closely following the lithium shortage. This crisis has the potential to lead to tangible returns– and that’s why I’m here.*

Lithium is desperately needed to run our country and our lives, but it’s scarce.

Lithium batteries revolutionized modern technology and are currently a $41.9 billion market.[12] And that’s just in its infancy. By 2030, batteries are expected to account for 95 percent of lithium demand, and total needs will grow annually by 25 to 26 percent.[13]

Image Data Source [14] [15] [16]

Lithium-ion batteries are also used for backup power supply to commercial buildings…data centers…and energy storage in residential PV solar systems. Speaking of…

Do NOT underestimate the need for lithium in energy storage systems either—a market projected to skyrocket—from U.S. $4.4 billion in 2022 to $15.1 billion by 2027.[17]

Image Data Source [17]

By now, you‘ve heard about the growing concerns over the energy grid. There is an increasing demand for grid energy storage systems due to the need to modernize the grid.[18] Add to this the increasing demand for lithium-ion batteries in the renewable energy sector.[19] There’s tremendous upside potential here with the right junior lithium exploration company like Pan American Energy (PAANF). *

Image Data Source: [20]
The global lithium-ion battery market size was valued at USD $41.97 billion in 2021 and is expected to expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 18.1% from 2022 to 2030. The automobile sector is expected to witness significant growth owing to the rising adoption of electric vehicles.[21]

Global demand for military batteries is projected to explode to nearly $3 billion.

Over the next six years, the global demand for military batteries is projected to grow by 30%, according to India market researcher Valuates Reports.[23]

This should come as no surprise given changes in warfare techniques, demand for modern combat systems and increased need for surveillance drones, mobile technologies, and remotely operated unmanned machinery all have increased the need for batteries.[24]

The military loves rechargeable lithium batteries for their safety, portability, durability and superior life cycle.[25a] Imagine a soldier not having to lug around a battery that feels like a stack of bricks.

Image Data Source: [25b]

This is where smart investors can capitalize on the lithium shortage.

But that’s good news, too. It makes Pan American Energy (PAANF) worth a strong look.* Here are a few more reasons why.

Between 2016 and 2020, global lithium production increased by 116%.[26]

Now, in full-blown crisis mode, demand for lithium has outstripped supply pushing lithium prices up nearly 500% in one year.[27] Take a look…

Lithium is being gobbled up like candy…
Consumption massively outstrips supply.

Houston, we have a problem – a massive shortfall. Look at this.

Are your investing senses tingling yet? They should be—Pan American is a must-see company, given the perfect investing storm could be here.

It’s easy to see why an investment in a lithium mining exploration company like Pan American Energy (PAANF) has the potential to deliver sweet profits—even in an uncertain market.*

Pan American Energy (PAANF) has everything going for it, including claims in Nevada, Utah, and Canada, and a highly experienced management team, millions in private placement funding, and more.

The company’s rich potential for lithium discoveries signals a great buy opportunity, as you’ll see in a few seconds. *

“Lithium, the wonder metal at the heart of the global shift to electric cars, is in full-blown crisis.”[32] And the “consequences of failure to produce enough lithium are potentially devastating.”[33]
—Bloomberg.com

Electric vehicles and their explosive growth could fuel an incredible investment opportunity.

Global investment in EVs has grown faster than any other new-energy sector over the past few years, including wind and solar power.[34]  No wonder the world is racing to move to clean energy and away from fossil fuels and gasoline-powered cars and trucks.

Rising consumer awareness along with government incentives and mandates are supporting the exponential rise in EV sales…

Electric vehicles are here to stay, and their numbers are exploding…

Plug-in EV sales have TRIPLED since Biden took office.[35] And that growth is expected to continue.

Image Data Source [36] [37] [38]
Global EV sales have taken off like a rocket. In 2021 automakers sold 6.6 million plug-in vehicles—more than DOUBLE the 3 million sold in 2020 and TRIPLE the 2.2 million sold in 2019.[39]

Global EV sales have taken off like a rocket. In 2021 automakers sold 6.6 million plug-in vehicles—more than DOUBLE the 3 million sold in 2020 and TRIPLE the 2.2 million sold in 2019.[39]

All these vehicles need batteries made with lithium. Adding fuel to the investment potential is the value of lithium. These price increases make it easy to see why they call lithium “white gold.”

Surging EV demand has seen lithium prices skyrocket by around 500% in one year.

Compare this with a 5-year average of around $14,500 per metric ton.[42]

The Inflation Reduction Act could contribute to further price pressures.[43]

Automakers are desperate for batteries for their electric cars.

It’s so bad Elon Musk has taken drastic action.

Auto giants are battling to secure batteries for their electric vehicles. While they’re looking at different battery technologies to combat prices and improve efficiency, price and range, lithium-based batteries are high on their list.

Volkswagen, Ford, Rivian and Tesla are all looking at moving from lithium-ion to lithium-phosphate batteries.[45]

Today’s battle for EV batteries has gotten so bad Tesla’s Elon Musk plans to build a battery-grade lithium hydroxide refining facility in Texas. Musk calls lithium prices “crazy expensive” and sees the refining facility as a way to help ease the supply bottleneck.[46]

Intense pressure is being put on mining companies by Washington to produce lithium. You know what that means.

Anytime Washington passes a new piece of legislation, the president issues an executive order. Congress is on a tear to go green. You can bet there’s a great investment opportunity waiting to happen—no matter what side of the political aisle you sit on.*

Here’s a quick look at the legislation President Biden is using to move the green energy revolution full steam ahead.

Let’s not forget the rejoining of the Paris Accord, which targets the reduction of planet-heating emissions[54] or state mandates like the one in California, which bans gas cars by the year 2035. New York, Massachusetts, Oregon, and  Vermont are also moving toward that same gas-free goal.[55]

I’d like to see investors capitalize on this huge opportunity to potentially reap profits. This could be like getting in on ExxonMobil or any big gas and oil giant when they first started.*

A $100 billion surprise could make Pan American Energy (PAANF) the best investment you could make for years to come.*

With global demand for lithium-ion batteries growing exponentially, the boom from the global EV market, Biden’s EV goals and the push for alternative energy,

“the market is poised to be worth $100 BILLION in the coming decades,”[56] reports Department of Energy’s David Howell.

That is up from $44.49 billion in 2021.

Imagine being properly invested in a lithium exploration company like Pan American (PAANF) as lithium prices continue to shoot upwards during a shortage.

Problem is…
There’s only one lithium mine in the entire U.S. that produces lithium.

The only domestic lithium producer is in Nevada, and output in the United States is small, which is why our country is a leading importer of lithium.[57]

Lithium Imports Timeline
Image Data Source [58]

By 2034, the U.S. will require 500,000 metric tons of lithium—more than the entire global supply in 2020.[59]

With increased demand comes higher prices. That’s great news for those positioned to profit from lithium with a junior exploration company like Pan American (PAANF).* Our country is desperate for domestic lithium mining companies to start producing.

In a moment, I’m going to show you what assets Pan American Energy (PAANF) has so you can see the potential of the company.

China is eating our lunch with world domination in the global lithium market.

The U.S. does not want to be any more dependent on China than it already is, but the sad truth is this: lithium could be the new energy crisis.

Concern is growing that we’ll see a repeat of the oil crisis sparked by Russia’s invasion of the Ukraine only with lithium. Geopolitical tensions could spill over into a war of sanctions.[60] China could shut off its supply of batteries just when automakers need them most to power EVs.

“If China decides to stick with the home market, lithium-ion batteries are going to be more expensive outside of China,” says Andrew Barron, professor of low carbon energy and the environment at Swansea University. That makes western efforts to boost battery production “more imperative than ever,” says Barron.

Problem #1: This could put the US and other countries in a Chinese chokehold on the lithium battery market for years to come. China produces 75% of all lithium-ion batteries in the world![61]

China’s growing dominance could make the U.S. dependent on China—the same way Europe now relies on Russia for energy.[62][63] OPEC and Russia have plans to cut oil production and drive up prices.[64] They’re in control, and while this is akin to extortion when you’re dependent on another country, this is what happens.

Problem #2: Without the processing plants, lithium extracted from new mines in the US and Europe could still have to be shipped to Asia and back and refined before use in electric cars.[65] This compromises energy independence and puts us squarely in the hands of China, who will own us.

Problem #3: China is the only country that can take lithium from raw materials through finished batteries without relying on imported chemicals or components. Still, China isn’t producing enough lithium to satisfy its needs domestically.[66]

Problem #4: Issues of supply and demand, embargoes and sanctions can lead to military conflict.

China’s Dominance in the Battery Supply Chain 2019

In 2031, China is set to have almost 4,500 GWh of gigafactory capacity, representing 70% of global capacity.*

China is the third-largest lithium producer and produces 80% of refined battery chemicals.

And such dependence is fraught with issues: national security concerns, price gouging, supply/demand imbalance, embargoes and more.[67] Lithium could be the next oil crisis and our most critical commodity as lithium consumption explodes.

Dire Need For Lithium Puts U.S. National Security At-Risk

Why is this a national security risk? Because lithium batteries are found in nearly every U.S. weapon system today[68]–thermal imagers, radios, and other portable devices, as well as vehicles, ships and air carriers. Lithium-ion batteries provide more energy but weigh less which is essential for a soldier carrying between 15-25 pounds of batteries alone.[69]

Now, imagine if China, which controls 75% of the lithium supply, refuses to export lithium batteries.

We’re talking about the kind of technological warfare that could bring the U.S. military to its knees.

Lithium supply is so critical to our nation that earlier this year, President Biden invoked the Defense Production Act—a move to encourage domestic production of lithium required to make lithium batteries for EVs and long-term energy storage.[70]

“Critical minerals play a significant role in our national security, economy, renewable energy development and infrastructure,” said Tanya Trujillo, Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Water and Science.[71]

As we have seen with oil and gas, the U.S. must control its own supply. That is why I’m excited to introduce you to what I believe could be the next big opportunity in energy—lithium mining exploration company Pan American Energy (PAANF).

Petroleum was once the raw material that enabled the growth of global transportation. Lithium could take its place as the rightful new commodity to power cars. And Pan American Energy could be there to reap the benefits.*

How to get in on the electric vehicle boom

Invest in companies that mine and process lithium for those batteries.[72] Batteries can represent as much as 50% of the cost of an EV. Look at lithium exploration mining company Pan American Energy (PAANF).

Pan American (PAANF) presents an excellent opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a lithium exploration and mining company.

Pan American Energy is a North American acquisition and exploration mining company with diversified assets in key mining areas in Nevada, Utah, and Ontario.

* Let’s take a brief look at their properties.

Lithium Hotbed #1:

Utah: Green Energy Lithium Project[73b]

Location

  • Utah, one of the top mining districts in the USA
  • The Paradox Basin and the underlying Mississippian (Leadville) formation contain high-quality lithium brine, bromine, potash, iodine and other valuable recoverable minerals.

Infrastructure

  • Water, roads and railways in place nearby
  • Potash Mining is a hop, skip, and a jump away-it’s massive and Intrepid Potash is already producing potash.[74]

Claims

  • 4,160 acres with existing well set for reentry
  • Targeted brine horizon occurs over the entire property with grades as high as 500 ppm recorded immediately adjacent to the property.

Activity

  • Out of 55 oil and gas wells drilled in the area, at least 32 contained supersaturated brine where you find lithium—also known as “white gold.”
  • Drill logs from a single well indicate brine flows of 500,000 tonnes per year. That could yield up to 1,420 tonnes of Lithium Carbonate annually. [75] More onsite drilling needs to be done to prove this out.
  • Mega-miner Anson Resources is on the adjacent, overlapping property where proven resources of 788,000 tons of lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE) already exist.[76] Net present value (NPV) (Pre-Tax) for Anson is US $1,305 million.[77]

Geological data from the area of Pan American’s Green Energy Project show a strong indication of the potential for it to become a producer of lithium, bromine, and other products.

Pan American Energy (PAANF) is believed to be situated on a fraction of what Anson has already proven out.

Assuming the price of lithium carbonate is around $75,000 per metric ton, 1,420 metric tonnes of lithium could yield $75,000,000 worth of lithium carbonate annually.

In January of 2023, the company is expected to have permits in hand to reenter the existing well. Their goal is to get in and start to drill as quickly as possible. That is why you should take a close look at Pan American Energy (PAANF) now.*

Lithium Hotbed #2:

Nevada: Horizon Lithium Project

Location

  • Big Smoky and Monte Cristo Basins of Esmeralda County, a few kilometers from Tonopah, Nevada
  • Believed to underlie the same geological formation as neighboring exploration companies, American Lithium and American Battery Technology.
  • Approximately 185 miles from the Tesla Gigafactory.

Claims

  • 839 unpatented lode mining claims covering 17,334 acres of land
  • Adjacent to the Tonapah Flats, where major players such as American Lithium, Enertopia and American Battery Technology (ABTC) are engaged in mining and targeting with the goal of production
  • Adjoins American Battery Technology’s (ABTC) Tonopah Flats Project– recipient of U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Bipartisan Infrastructure Law grant of $57 million to design, construct, commission, and operate a first-of-kind commercial-scale facility to demonstrate its novel process for manufacturing battery cathode grade lithium hydroxide from unconventional Nevada-based lithium-bearing sedimentary resources.

Activity

  • Potential score: Giant ABTC at nearby Tonopah Flats had 42 samples >600ppm lithium. The best drill results showed 1,920 ppm of lithium immediately north of Horizon’s northern border. Samples with values of 300 ppm and up are typically considered very prospective in nature.[78]
  • The company has submitted drilling permits and is positioned to drill Q1-2023.

Nevada is to lithium what Silicon Valley is to technology—it’s a hotbed with more than 17,000 prospecting claims for lithium.[79]

While success at adjoining properties doesn’t guarantee success, it’s very positive when you’re a junior exploration mining company surrounded by industry giants scoring big.

Pan American (PAANF) is on the move. I advise investors to keep a close eye on the news coming out of Pan American Energy (PAANF).

Lithium Hotbed #3:

Canada: Big Mack

Location

  • Located in the Patterson Lake area, Ontario[80]

 Claims

  • Close to the Avalon Advanced Materials Separation Rapids Lithium Project (Big Whopper pegmatite) deposit with a Measured and Indicated Resource of 8,405 million tonnes at 1.408% Lithium Oxide (Li2O), with an additional Inferred Resource of 1.791 million tonnes at 1.349% Li2O[81]

 Infrastructure

  • Fully accessible to roads, highways and railways[82]
  • Ideal location to ship material to the proposed lithium processing facility in Thunder Bay, Ontario

 Activity

  • As of this writing, company management reports they are fully funded for their phase 1 drilling program.[83]

Pan American To Use DLE Technology to Get the Lithium Out Faster

Mining lithium is a slow process and our country doesn’t have the luxury of time. That’s why Pan American (PAANF) uses green, clean Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) technology for their production.

Compared to traditional brine extraction technology, DLE reduces impurities by over 99%, uses no fresh water, with lower land use, chemical and greenhouse gases, and can extract lithium rapidly—in hours instead of days. The high-quality concentrate you get using DLE technology means the company can extract lithium chloride and battery-quality lithium hydroxide.[84]

10 Reasons to Look at Pan American Energy (PAANF) Without Delay!

Pan American Energy (PAANF) is a junior exploration mining company I’m recommending investors put on their list of stocks to potentially add to their portfolio.*

Even with all these factors, lithium exploration remains a speculative and risky venture, and there is no assurance of success.

The best way I know to get in on the electric vehicle boom is to invest in companies that mine and process lithium for those batteries.

The best time to invest, if you choose to, is before Pan American (PAANF) turns from exploration to production. Holding lithium can potentially be akin to holding gold in your portfolio! *

But do your homework.

Conduct a thorough review of Pan American Energy (PAANF) because junior companies can carry a significant amount of risk—even those with great stories.

The risks can range from being underfunded to having a small number of shares available to the public.

I’ll never shy away from alerting you about the risks associated with investing in young companies new to the stock market. That’s why I urge you always observe my three rules for accepting microcap investing risk:

Risk Reduction Rule #1
Never invest more than you can afford to lose.

Risk Reduction Rule #2
Do not chase losses. If the prices slide, you must resist all temptation to “average down.”

Risk Reduction Rule #3
Don’t put all your dreams on one microcap. Allocate your risk capital among a handful of stocks.

All that said, I think you and your financial advisor will agree. Pan American Energy (PAANF) could be a headline-making stock this year and into the future. *

Lithium is hot right now and will be for quite some time if the current trends in EV and clean, green energy continue.

I wish you all the success in your investments.
